Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform ERCP procedures reliably and safely for adult patients
• Provide inpatient consultative care and manage inpatient endoscopy needs
• Complete 3–4 outpatient procedures per day while maintaining high-quality documentation
• Respond to 24-hour on-call needs (beeper/on-call coverage) and manage call-backs
• Collaborate with nursing and hospital teams to coordinate patient care
• Use Cerner EMR for accurate, timely charting and order entry
• Participate in orientation and any required credentialing processes for Trinity Health/MercyOne

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree (physician level required)
• Board certified or board eligible in Gastroenterology preferred
• Active or ability to obtain Iowa medical license
• Demonstrated experience and procedural competence in ERCP (required)
• EUS experience highly preferred but candidates with ERCP-only experience will be considered
• Current BLS and ACLS (per facility requirements)
• Comfort with 24-hour on-call responsibilities and inpatient hospital practice

Education

• MD or DO (Physician)
• Fellowship training in Gastroenterology (preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

• Advanced endoscopic skills including ERCP (required) and EUS (preferred)
• Strong inpatient consultative skills and adult patient management
• Proficiency with Cerner electronic medical record
• Ability to manage procedural volumes and prioritize patient flow
• Team-oriented communication and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
• Clinical decision-making under on-call conditions and efficient documentation skills
