Shift Type: PRN (day shifts). Option of half-days (4 hours) or full-days (8 hours); schedule varies by location — Fort Polk: approximately 2 days per week; Houma: approximately 3 days per week. (Provider chooses availability within PRN needs.)

Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform Compensation & Pension (C&P) exams and Separation Health Assessments for Veterans
- Conduct thorough interview-based clinical assessments and document findings clearly
- Carry out focused physical assessments as needed (range of motion testing, muscle strength testing)
- Prepare timely, high-quality medical documentation and reports, including addendums and medical opinions
- Coordinate with VES for credentialing, scheduling, and required administrative follow-up
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to all applicable clinical and documentation standards
- Complete required training and onboarding activities to remain compliant and mission-ready
Qualifications
- Active MD or DO (physician) license in the state or ability to obtain within required region
- Board certification or completion of residency in family medicine, internal medicine, orthopedic surgery, or equivalent general medicine background
- Experience or training in clinical assessment, interviewing, and physical exam techniques (range of motion and muscle strength testing preferred)
- Prior experience with Compensation & Pension exams or similar medicolegal/administrative evaluations is strongly preferred
- Excellent medical documentation and report-writing skills
- Access to a private office within a 50-mile radius (if choosing provider-owned-office option) and reliable transportation
- Willingness to complete required VES onboarding and training
Education
- MD or DO (or equivalent) — completion of an accredited residency program in family medicine, internal medicine, orthopedics, or related general medicine field
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in clinical interviewing and focused physical examination
- Proficient in range of motion and muscle strength testing techniques
- Strong medical documentation and report-writing abilities
- Comfortable preparing addendums and medical opinions when needed
- Familiarity with reading diagnostics and integrating findings into assessments
- Able to work independently in a provider-owned office or as per-diem at a clinic
- Detail-oriented, timely, and veteran-centered communication style
