Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist licensed physical therapists with patient treatment plans and interventions
• Deliver hands-on therapeutic activities and progress patients toward goals
• Document patient responses, treatment notes, and communicate changes to the PT
• Prepare treatment areas, equipment, and ensure a safe environment for care
• Educate patients and families on home exercise programs and safety techniques
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to provide patient-centered care

Qualifications

• Current Maryland Physical Therapist Assistant license or eligible to obtain
• Graduation from an accredited PTA program (associate degree typically required)
• Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification required or must obtain promptly
• Background check and health requirements (immunizations/TB) as facility mandates
• Comfort working with adults in an outpatient/long-term care setting; previous PTA experience preferred

Education

• Associate degree in Physical Therapist Assistant or related accredited program

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in therapeutic exercise techniques and patient mobility assistance
• Strong documentation skills and familiarity with clinical charting
• Ability to follow PT treatment plans and report patient progress clearly
• Good communication, team collaboration, and patient education abilities
• Knowledge of safety protocols, infection control, and equipment use
