Registered Nurse - Palliative Care
Location: Carmichael, CA
Start Date: 07-07-2026
End Date: 10-06-2026
Contract Type: Contract
Shift Type: Day shifts, 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM or 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, Monday-Friday with rotating weekends
Hours per Week: 40
Candidate Pay Rate: $71 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Develop and manage daily patient lists for the palliative care team
- Review patient charts to assess needs and coordinate care
- Facilitate goals of care discussions with patients and families
- Educate patients and families on disease processes, advance directives, and POLSTs
- Conduct family meetings and provide end-of-life support and discussions
- Participate in daily rounds with physicians, NPs, and RNs
Qualifications
- Active RN license in California
- BLS certification required; ELNEC preferred
- 2-5 years of recent experience in palliative or hospice care
- Acute care experience required; ICU or oncology experience a plus
- Strong clinical thinking, communication, and organizational skills
- Must not have been employed by CommonSpirit (CHI/Dignity) in the past year
Knowledge & Skills
- Palliative and end-of-life care expertise
- Proficiency with Cerner EMR
- Excellent clinical assessment and critical thinking
- Effective communication and family counseling skills
- Strong organizational and time management abilities
