Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate nursing care to patients on a fast-paced Medical/Surgical/Telemetry unit
• Continuously monitor cardiac rhythms and interpret telemetry strips, documenting findings each shift
• Administer medications and treatments, including set-rate Diltiazem/Cardizem drips, with careful attention to patient response
• Collaborate with charge nurses, physicians, and the healthcare team to develop and adjust care plans
• Educate patients and families on conditions like CHF, diabetes, respiratory issues, and post-catheterization care
• Float to East Campus or PCU as needed, supporting the larger patient care team

Qualifications

• Active RN license (any state accepted for travel)
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of recent Medical/Surgical or Telemetry experience
• Must pass a dysrhythmia exam (80% or higher) within two attempts before starting
• Ability to read and interpret basic telemetry strips independently
• Cerner experience strongly preferred, as orientation is just one shift

Knowledge & Skills

• Expertise in cardiac monitoring and rhythm interpretation
• Skill in caring for patients with CHF, COVID, respiratory conditions, GI issues, diabetes, and total joint replacements
• Familiarity with CVA/TIA patient care
• Proficiency in medication administration and IV therapy
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Knowledge of Cerner electronic health records
