Education

• Common diagnosis / Types of patients Medical Cardiac-CHF,
• Experience or 'Must have' skills Medical Cardiac
• Are RN's required to titrate drips? yes
• Common titratable &/or set rate drips Amio, Hep, Insulin, Cardizem
• Is there a Charge Nurse on each shift? Does the charge nurse take an assignment? yes/yes
• Are there nurse aids/patient care techs on this unit? Ratios? Duties? Yes 12-15/pct Vitals, bathing, blood glucose, phlebotomy, ADLs.
• RT Equipment (Vents, Cpap, Bi Pap, High Flow, etc.) Are RNs required to do anything with these besides trouble shoot? High Flow, Bipap <24 hours
• Are there Tele/Monitor Techs on this unit? Are RN's required to read their own strips? What brand are the tele monitors? No-Virtual monitoring only. Read strips per shift. GE tele monitors
• Shifts & Scheduling (Do you allow self-scheduling? Block scheduling?) Yes and yes
• Weekend Requirements Yes every other weekend or less
• Holiday Requirements Yes assigned on a rotation
• Is there Call or a Standby requirement? On call as last resort for Travelers
