Education

• Common diagnoses/Types of patients abdominal pain, n/v/d, chest pain, sepsis, cva rule out, injury & trauma are typically fall related, etc.
• Experience or 'Must have' skills ED experience
• ED Physicians/Mid-Levels always 1 MD/DO working with 1-3 midlevel providers
• Charge Nurse/House Supervisor St. Elizabeth Hospital has both
• Nurse Aids/Paramedics/Patient sitters ED has 1 ED Tech (ie CNA) from 7am-3am
• EMR Epic
• RT Equipment (Vents, Cpap, Bi Pap, High Flow, etc.) Does RT do ABG's, breathing tx, EGS's? Capability for all vent, cpap, bipap, heated high flow.
• RT completes ABGs & breathing treatments. ED RNs & ED Techs complete EKGs.
• Is there tele on this unit? Monitor Techs? RNs read strips? all rooms capable of cardiac monitoring. No Tech watching monitors - they are visible at the nurses station for nurses to monitor when not in a patient room
• X-Ray or CT in the ER? Transport? Radiology is near the ED, but not in within the department. Mix of ED and Radiology staff transport patients (share the duty)
• Phlebotomy or nurse draw nurse draw for 95% of orders
• Shifts & Scheduling day shift 7am-7pm, mid shifts 11-11 & 12-12, night shift 7pm-7am
• Weekend Requirement every 3rd weekend
• Holiday Requirement 2 holidays per year (1 winter, 1 summer), easter on own rotation
• Is there a call or standby requirement? No
• Floating Requirements Only to the peds ED. No floating to inpatient units
• Scrub Color/Dress Code Navy
• Unit/Department specific orientation 1-2 days of unit orientation before functioning independently
