Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate care, feeding, and mobility support to residents
- Follow individualized care plans and ensure resident goals, preferences, rights, and safety are met
- Assist with ambulation, transfers, and positioning using gait belts and mechanical lifts
- Offer restorative and range‑of‑motion exercises as assigned
- Respond promptly to call lights and resident needs
- Support residents during mealtimes, including setup, grooming, feeding assistance, and documentation
- Observe and report changes in resident physical, emotional, or cognitive status
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, nurses, and interdisciplinary staff
- Document ADLs, intake/output, restorative care, and other tasks accurately in the electronic charting system
- Participate in onboarding and training of new staff members
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized resident environment
- Follow infection control protocols, including PPE use and hand hygiene
- Report equipment concerns, safety hazards, or resident rights issues immediately
- Support a calm, homelike atmosphere and minimize stressors for residents
- Protect resident belongings and promptly report missing items
- Ensure residents are free from abuse, neglect, and restraints
- Honor residents’ right to refuse care and seek alternatives that respect autonomy
- Participate in emergency procedures and respond appropriately
- Assist with dining room setup, social engagement, and community‑based activities
