Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living including feeding, bathing, dressing, toileting and ambulating
- Take and report initial vital signs and weights promptly to nursing staff
- Monitor and accurately record intake and output in accordance with unit standards
- Follow infection control and Universal Precautions to protect residents and staff
- Maintain resident privacy and confidentiality while supporting resident rights
- Collaborate with RN/LPN team leaders and communicate changes in condition immediately
- Support resident and family orientation to the unit and services with compassion and clarity
- Provide hands-on care in skilled rehabilitation and long-term care settings, delivering the plan of care with empathy and accuracy
Qualifications
- Active Maine C.N.A. license (required)
- Proven ability to assist with ADLs and basic patient care tasks
- Comfortable taking vital signs and recording measurements accurately
- Experience or strong interest in long term care and skilled rehabilitation
- Strong communication, teamwork, empathy and flexibility for dynamic care situations
- Willingness to work night shifts and follow established nursing protocols
Education
- Active Maine C.N.A. license
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of activities of daily living (ADLs) and resident assistance
- Ability to take vital signs and document intake and output (I&O)
- Knowledge of infection control practices and Universal Precautions
- Commitment to patient/resident confidentiality and privacy
- Basic skin care, feeding, bathing and ambulation techniques
- Effective listening, communication and teamwork skills
- Empathy, patience and the ability to remain objective under stress
