Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist the supervising occupational therapist in delivering person-centered treatment plans
- Implement therapeutic activities and interventions to improve patients' daily living skills
- Monitor and document patient progress clearly and promptly
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care
- Provide education and training to patients and families to support carry-over at home
- Adapt equipment, splints, and activity modifications to promote independence and safety
- Maintain a safe, organized treatment area and ensure proper equipment care
Qualifications
- Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) credential in good standing
- Current California license/registration or eligibility to obtain one
- Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification (current)
- Comfortable with documentation and electronic medical records
- Professional, compassionate communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to travel and complete a 13-week contract assignment
- Pass background checks and meet employer onboarding requirements
Education
- Associate degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) program
- Completion of state-required certification/licensure coursework
Knowledge & Skills
- Familiarity with Occupational Therapy interventions across the lifespan
- Skilled in activity analysis, adaptive techniques, and assistive device recommendations
- Strong clinical observation, assessment, and documentation skills
- Ability to prioritize caseload and manage time in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent patient and family education skills with a positive bedside manner
