Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, person-centered care to geriatric residents, honoring dignity and comfort
• Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, feeding)
• Monitor and record vital signs and report any changes to the nursing team promptly
• Support safe mobility and fall-prevention efforts, using proper body mechanics
• Document resident care accurately and timely in the facility’s charting system
• Communicate respectfully with residents’ families and the interdisciplinary care team
• Maintain a clean, safe environment and follow infection control and safety protocols
• Participate in shift handoffs to ensure continuity of care

Qualifications

• Active GNA certification (state-required credential) — please have documentation ready
• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification or willingness to obtain
• Background check, TB screening, and up-to-date immunizations as required by facility
• Comfort working with older adults and experience in long-term care or geriatric settings preferred
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively on a multidisciplinary team

Education

• High school diploma or GED required; GNA certification required

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
• Skillful in assisting with ADLs and mobility support
• Basic knowledge of infection prevention and safety procedures
• Ability to measure and interpret vital signs and recognize subtle changes
• Good documentation habits and basic charting competency
• Empathy, patience, and strong interpersonal skills for resident-centered care
