Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess, triage, and manage a high-volume emergency caseload with confidence and compassion
• Stabilize critically ill and injured patients, including STEMI, stroke, sepsis, and respiratory failure
• Interpret telemetry and cardiac rhythms using Phillips systems and act on changes promptly
• Collaborate with physicians, midlevels, respiratory therapy, and cath lab teams to coordinate care
• Provide pediatric emergency care in a dedicated pediatric zone for ages 0-12 when appropriate
• Safely manage ventilated patients while awaiting respiratory therapy or transfer
• Document care accurately and efficiently in Cerner EMR
• Serve as a team player during peak volumes and assist with triage, fast track, and patient flow

Qualifications

• Active RN license valid in California
• Minimum 3+ years of Emergency Room nursing experience (no first-time travelers)
• Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS certifications required (please attach certs to your profile)
• Proven experience with Cerner EMR required
• Comfort working 12-hour night shifts, every other weekend, and required holiday coverage
• Ability to work in a high-acuity, high-volume environment with patient ratios around 1:4
• Strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills

Education

• ADN or BSN required (BSN not required for submission)
• BSN preferred but not mandatory

Knowledge & Skills

• Advanced emergency and critical care knowledge (STEMI, stroke, sepsis protocols)
• Pediatric emergency assessment and care for lower-acuity and higher-acuity children
• Proficient telemetry reading and interpretation (Phillips systems)
• Familiarity with ventilator patient holding and collaboration with Respiratory Therapy
• Competence performing and interpreting EKGs and rapid bedside diagnostics
• Excellent triage, prioritization, and time management skills
• Accurate charting and documentation in Cerner
