Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert stepdown and progressive care to patients with complex cardiac conditions, including CHF, MI, arrhythmias, and post-procedure recovery.
• Monitor telemetry continuously and interpret rhythm changes to catch issues early.
• Administer and titrate cardiac IV medications such as nitroglycerin, Cardizem, amiodarone, and heparin with skill and confidence.
• Care for patients on prostacyclin therapy when needed, including Flolan, Veletri, and Remodulin.
• Support bedside cardioversion and respond quickly and calmly to emergencies.
• Collaborate with charge nurses, physicians, and PCTs to keep the unit running smoothly.
• Educate patients and families on cardiac health, medications, and recovery steps.
• Document accurately in Cerner EMR and communicate clearly during every handoff.

Qualifications

• Active and unrestricted RN license
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• At least 2 years of stepdown or progressive care experience
• Telemetry and cardiac rhythm interpretation experience
• Experience with titratable cardiac IV medications like nitroglycerin, Cardizem, and heparin
• Flexible, positive attitude with a team-first mindset
• Relief charge or prostacyclin administration experience is a plus

Knowledge & Skills

• In-depth knowledge of stepdown and progressive care nursing
• Skilled in telemetry monitoring and arrhythmia detection
• Confident in cardiac IV drip titration and emergency response
• Proficient with Cerner EMR documentation
• Strong critical thinking and prioritization in fast-paced settings
• Compassionate patient and family education
• Excellent collaboration and communication with multidisciplinary teams
