Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide specialized nursing care to patients with neurological conditions, including stroke, traumatic brain injury, and spinal cord disorders.
• Monitor and assess neurological status, recognizing and responding to changes in patient condition.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, including IV therapies and neuro-specific protocols.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans.
• Educate patients and families on neurological diagnoses, treatment options, and recovery processes.
• Ensure accurate documentation and compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Iowa (or compact state) required.
• BLS, ACLS, TNCC, and NIHSS certifications required.
• Minimum of 1-2 years of neuro nursing experience preferred.
• Ability to work night shifts, weekends, and holidays, and float to different units as needed.

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong assessment and critical thinking skills for complex neurological patients.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in neuro assessment tools and monitoring equipment.
• Flexibility and adaptability to floating and changing patient assignments.
• Ability to maintain composure and prioritize care during emergencies.
