Education

  • # of Beds: 33 beds, average daily census is 16
  • Nurse:Patient Ratios: 1:2-3 for adults
  • Common diagnoses/Types of patients: Trauma, cardiac, overdose/substance abuse, Adults sepsis, post-stent, pacemaker placement, stroke, vascular cases, renal failure, heart failure, respiratory distress
  • Are RNs required to titrate drips?: Yes
  • Common titratable &/or set rate drips: Any cardiac drip, insulin, sedation
  • Nurse Aides: yes- based on census, will sit in 1:1s or assist on the floor as needed based on volume, Healthcare Support tech 3 days per week (M-F) 0800-1630
  • RT Equipment (Vents, Cpap, Bi Pap, High Flow, etc.) Are RNs required to do anything with these besides trouble shoot?: Nasal cannula to vent
  • Shifts & Scheduling (Do you allow self-scheduling? Block scheduling?): 0630-1830, 1830-0630 // Self scheduling for core staff, travelers added in. Unable to guarantee block scheduling
  • Monitors/Tele: yes, RNs are required to read/interpret/document strips, monitor brand is GE, tele tech oversight of monitors as well
  • Floating: Typically PCU, occasionally Med Surg- will take same ratio of patients typically assigned on these units (1:4 or 1:5)
  • Holiday requirements: minimum of 2 holidays that fall within contract time frame
  • Weekend Requirements: Every other
  • How many shifts of unit/department specific orientation?: 1 shift
  • RTO needed upfront (7 or less days per 13 week contract). Additional RTO will not be approved, including after submissions.
