Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert emergency nursing care to a diverse patient population in a Level I Trauma Center
• Triage and assess patients with acute conditions including trauma, sepsis, chest pain, and strokes
• Administer medications and manage common drips in a high-acuity emergency department
• Collaborate with physicians, mid-levels, and a dedicated healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes
• Float to OBS unit and freestanding ER as needed to support patient care
• Participate in orientation and pass an open-book exam to demonstrate competency

Qualifications

• Current RN license in Nebraska or compact state
• BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, and TNCC certifications required
• NRP certification preferred
• Recent Level I or Level II trauma experience required
• Valid driver's license required for radius verification
• Must be willing to adhere to fingernail policy (no artificial nails in patient care areas)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong emergency nursing and trauma care skills
• Ability to interpret cardiac rhythms and read strips independently
• Excellent critical thinking and quick decision-making in high-stress situations
• Team player with effective communication and collaboration skills
• Adaptability to float between units and handle varying patient ratios
