Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver rapid, confident emergency care to patients of all ages walking through the doors
• Triage incoming patients and prioritize care based on acuity and urgency
• Monitor vitals, administer medications, and respond quickly when a patient's condition changes
• Collaborate with physicians, paramedics, and fellow nurses in a fast paced team environment
• Document assessments and interventions accurately so nothing falls through the cracks
• Educate patients and families on next steps, discharge instructions, and follow up care
• Bring calm and reassurance to people having one of the hardest days of their lives

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Iowa, or compact eligibility
• Current BLS certification
• Current ACLS certification
• Current PALS certification
• Current TNCC certification
• Current NIHSS certification
• Hands on emergency department experience in a hospital setting
• Up to date health records including fit test, 10 panel drug screen, Tdap, color vision, COVID-19 vaccine, MMR, Hepatitis B, Influenza, 2 Step PPD or IGRA, Varicella, and a physical health statement

• BLS
• PALS
• ACLS
• TNCC
• NIHSS

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong triage and rapid assessment skills for high acuity situations
• Comfort with emergency interventions, IV starts, and medication administration
• Excellent critical thinking when every second counts
• Clear, compassionate communication with patients and families under stress
• Confident electronic medical record charting and documentation
• Team first mindset and adaptability in a constantly changing environment
