Education

• Common diagnoses/Types of patients Medical/Surgical ICU
• Experience or 'Must have' skills ICU
• Are RNs required to titrate drips? Yes
• Common titratable &/or set rate drips Sedation, Cardiac Medications
• Is there a Charge Nurse on each shift? Does the charge nurse take an assignment? yes, no
• Are there nurse aids/patient care techs on this unit? Ratios? Duties? no
• Hospitalist &/or Intensivist in house 24/7? In the ICU 24/7? yes
• RT in ICU 24/7? on the same floor
• RT Equipment (Vents, Cpap, Bi Pap, High Flow, etc.) Are RNs required to do anything with these besides trouble shoot? Vents, Bipap, if RT is not present
• Are there Tele/Monitor Techs on this unit? Are RNs required to read their own strips? What brand are the tele monitors? Yes and yes
• Shifts & Scheduling (Do you allow self-scheduling? Block scheduling?) self scheduling
• Weekend Requirements 6 weekends a schedule period
• Holiday Requirements 3 winter holidays
• Is there a call or standby requirement? no
