Shift Type: Rotating clinical schedule: 8–12 weeks/year on CVICU service with overnight home call; remaining weeks provide daytime OR, Obstetric anesthesia, and healthy pediatric cases; shared OR call duties proportional to ICU coverage. Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, evidence-based care in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit during assigned CVICU blocks
• Deliver comprehensive anesthesia services in the operating room, obstetrics, and healthy pediatric cases during non-ICU weeks
• Provide overnight home-call coverage as part of the CVICU service
• Supervise and mentor advanced practice providers (APPs) managing complex postoperative patients (cardiac surgery, major vascular, TAVR)
• Participate in clinical decision-making, protocol development, and care coordination to improve patient outcomes
• Engage in teaching and mentoring of residents and APPs to grow the next generation of clinicians
• Document care accurately and efficiently using Epic EMR
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team in a Level 2 Trauma Center to deliver safe, coordinated care

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree and completion of Anesthesiology residency
• Critical Care fellowship training (required)
• Active, valid medical license for Michigan (or eligible to obtain)
• Board certification in Anesthesiology; current certification status must be maintained (candidates with lapsed board certification are not eligible)
• Experience or comfort managing CVICU patients and supervising APP teams
• Familiarity with credentialing and privileging processes
• Ability to start ASAP and commit to the on-call/home-call responsibilities
• Willingness to work within a Level 2 Trauma Center environment and not commute more than one hour
• Open to H1B and J1 visa candidates

Education

• MD or DO (Anesthesiology residency required) and Critical Care fellowship

Knowledge & Skills

• Expertise in ICU management and perioperative critical care for cardiac and vascular postoperative patients
• Operating room anesthesia skills including obstetric and pediatric anesthesia for healthy cases
• Cardiovascular intensive care (CVICU) clinical judgment and management
• APP team oversight and effective interdisciplinary communication
• Clinical protocol development and quality improvement experience
• Proficient documentation and workflow in Epic EMR
• Strong teaching, mentoring, and leadership abilities within a clinical team
