Pathology Assistant - Pathology
Location: Grand Forks, ND

Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: 5 x 8-hour shifts, 40 hours per week (shift times to be confirmed)

Candidate Pay Rate: $88 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform surgical specimen dissection on a wide range of specimens, ensuring high-quality material for routine and specialized histology studies.
- Prepare and perform frozen sections while maintaining cryostats for optimal function.
- Dictate complete and accurate gross descriptions for every specimen processed.
- Collaborate with pathologists and providers to ensure accurate and timely result reporting, both in person and virtually.
- Maintain a clean, well-stocked grossing area and morgue, disposing of tissues and reagents according to standard operating procedures.
- Conduct quality control and preventive maintenance, troubleshooting issues and keeping procedure manuals current with CAP compliance.
Qualifications
- ASCP certification (or certification eligibility with certification obtained prior to start date)
- Completion of a NAACLS Accredited Pathologists' Assistant Program
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a pathology assistant or related role
- Prior grossing experience preferred
Education
- Completion of NAACLS Accredited Pathologists' Assistant Program
Knowledge & Skills
- Anatomic Pathology expertise
- Surgical specimen dissection and frozen section skills
- Gross description dictation
- Quality assurance and quality control
- Instrument troubleshooting and maintenance
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
