Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform surgical specimen dissection on a wide range of specimens, ensuring high-quality material for routine and specialized histology studies.
• Prepare and perform frozen sections while maintaining cryostats for optimal function.
• Dictate complete and accurate gross descriptions for every specimen processed.
• Collaborate with pathologists and providers to ensure accurate and timely result reporting, both in person and virtually.
• Maintain a clean, well-stocked grossing area and morgue, disposing of tissues and reagents according to standard operating procedures.
• Conduct quality control and preventive maintenance, troubleshooting issues and keeping procedure manuals current with CAP compliance.

Qualifications

• ASCP certification (or certification eligibility with certification obtained prior to start date)
• Completion of a NAACLS Accredited Pathologists' Assistant Program
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a pathology assistant or related role
• Prior grossing experience preferred

Education

• Completion of NAACLS Accredited Pathologists' Assistant Program
