Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, compassionate patient care using the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation
• Provide direct patient care within your scope of practice in the Birthplace unit
• Guide and support patient and family teaching throughout the antepartum and postpartum journey
• Direct and mentor fellow nursing personnel while maintaining high standards of care
• Respond quickly and accurately to changes in patient condition or response to treatment
• Maintain a safe environment for patients, visitors and newborns
• Use the chain of command appropriately to ensure patient well-being and continuity of care

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse license in California, verified through Nursys
• Current BLS certification
• AWHONN or Fetal Heart Monitoring certification
• DCI/BVP certification
• Previous Labor and Delivery nursing experience caring for antepartum and postpartum patients
• Willingness to complete pre-employment requirements including drug screening, color-blind test, fit test and health history documentation
• Up-to-date immunizations including COVID-19 vaccine, MMR, Hepatitis B, Influenza, Varicella, Tdap and TB test
• Comfort with specialty exams and skills checklists as part of onboarding

• DCI/BVP

• Strong patient assessment skills across the labor and delivery spectrum
• Solid clinical planning, implementation and evaluation abilities
• Confident in antepartum and postpartum nursing care
• Skilled in fetal heart monitoring and interpreting maternal and fetal status
• Excellent patient and family teaching and communication
• Calm, quick decision-making when patient conditions change
• Team-oriented mindset with the ability to guide and support other nursing staff
