Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming) with dignity and respect
• Support safe mobility and transfers using proper body mechanics and equipment
• Observe and report changes in resident condition to the nurse in charge
• Take and record vital signs accurately and communicate findings promptly
• Provide compassionate companionship and emotional support to older adults
• Maintain clean, safe, and comfortable resident environments through thoughtful care
• Document care thoroughly and follow individualized care plans to promote excellent outcomes

Qualifications

• Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification or state-equivalent credential where required
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)
• Previous experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, or geriatric settings is a plus
• Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
• Ability to pass background checks and any facility-specific onboarding requirements

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a state-approved GNA program preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Comfortable assisting with ADLs and personal care for older adults
• Basic vital signs measurement and observation skills
• Familiarity with infection control and safe-handling practices
• Clear, compassionate communication with residents, families, and staff
• Reliable documentation and basic electronic charting familiarity
• Ability to work independently while following care plans and nursing direction
