Roles & Responsibilities

• Administer and monitor chemotherapy safely and accurately for pediatric patients
• Provide high-quality medical-surgical nursing care for patients ages 0 to 17
• Perform IV therapy, start and maintain IVs, and manage central and implanted lines
• Use Epic, PYXIS, and SBAR for precise documentation and handoffs
• Float to PICU and NICU as needed and adapt to higher-acuity situations
• Educate families and patients about treatments, medications, and safety
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including pharmacy, PT, RT, and social work
• Maintain isolation precautions and uphold infection control standards

Qualifications

• Current RN license in the state of practice (or compact RN as applicable)
• Minimum 2 years pediatric nursing experience; CHEMO experience and chemo cert required
• BCLS (BLS) and PALS certifications required
• Chemo certification (APHON or equivalent) strongly preferred/required per unit
• Comfortable with pediatric med-surg and hematology/oncology patient populations
• Experience with Epic and PYXIS preferred
• Strong IV, phlebotomy, and port/central line care skills
• Able to float to PICU and NICU and work every other weekend

Knowledge & Skills

• Pediatric nursing across ages neonate through adolescent
• Pediatric oncology and hematology care, including chemo administration and monitoring
• Pediatric med-surgical nursing and step-down/telemetry familiarity
• IV therapy, phlebotomy, and central/peripheral line management
• Epic charting, PYXIS medication systems, and SBAR communication
• Isolation precautions and infection prevention practices
• Ability to function in a fast-paced, interdisciplinary environment
• Strong patient/family education and compassionate communication skills
