Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor and care for progressive care/stepdown patients using telemetry and cardiac monitoring systems
• Administer medications and manage medication workflows using Epic and medication dispensing systems (Pyxis/Accudose/Omnicell)
• Provide skilled IV therapy, peripheral line care, and phlebotomy as needed
• Recognize and manage dysrhythmias and participate in rapid response and code team interventions
• Deliver respiratory care including oxygen therapy and nasal cannula management
• Communicate clearly and professionally using SBAR and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes
• Float within the OSU organization when required, adapting to varied unit needs while maintaining high-quality care
• Document patient care accurately and timely in Epic to ensure continuity and safety

Qualifications

• Current Ohio RN license
• Minimum 2 years recent RN experience
• BLS required and ACLS required
• Progressive care / Stepdown / PCU experience preferred
• Comfortable with telemetry/MS/Tele patient population and cardiac monitoring
• Able to float to other units within the OSU organization as needed
• First-time travelers welcome
• Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccine not required per facility guideline

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry and cardiac monitoring with interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Epic electronic charting and SBAR communication
• Medication dispensing systems: Pyxis, Accudose, Omnicell
• IV therapy, peripheral line care, and phlebotomy skills
• Rapid response and code team familiarity
• Respiratory care including oxygen administration and nasal cannula management
• Isolation precautions and appropriate use of PPE
• Ability to work in mixed-acuity progressive care settings and adapt to floating assignments
