Shift Type: Night-focused, rotating 12-hour shifts — 3x12-hour nights per week, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM; schedule includes weekends and rotation between day/night based on department priorities (shift assignments assessed every 4-week scheduling period). Orientation: Week 1 Mon-Fri days, Week 2 36 hours on-unit with a preceptor.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care for adult and geriatric oncology patients across the continuum of care
• Safely administer and monitor antineoplastic chemotherapy and manage infusion-related care
• Perform telemetry monitoring and interpret dysrhythmias; respond to cardiac events appropriately
• Maintain and manage IV access, ports, central line draws, and blood product administration
• Document accurately and efficiently in EPIC to ensure continuity of care and clear communication
• Apply infection prevention protocols and fall-prevention strategies to keep patients safe
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (PT, Respiratory, Pharmacy, Social Work) to coordinate patient-centered care
• Float to other MedSurg Oncology units as needed and support unit staffing goals

Qualifications

• Current RN license in good standing (state licensure required)
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience (must meet requirements within the last 3 years; at least 1 year of current specialty experience for clinical pass)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required
• Telemetry interpretation and monitoring experience required
• EPIC charting experience required
• Oncology experience preferred but not required; ONS Chemo certification preferred
• Skills in IV therapy/phlebotomy, accessing/managing ports, and blood product administration preferred
• Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccine not required per facility guideline

Knowledge & Skills

• Oncology nursing principles and chemotherapy safety
• Telemetry monitoring and interpretation of dysrhythmias
• IV therapy, central line care, and port management
• EPIC electronic health record proficiency
• Infection prevention and isolation precautions
• Cardiac monitoring systems (B450/GE telemetry) and Alaris pump familiarity
• Tracheostomy care and emergency response
• Strong clinical judgment, patient education, and interdisciplinary communication
