Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide skilled antepartum and postpartum nursing care for patients with telemetry or continuous pulse-ox monitoring
• Continuously monitor fetal status using EFM and quickly recognize and act on abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
• Interpret telemetry and dysrhythmias and respond appropriately to cardiac changes
• Assist and circulate for cesarean sections and support high-risk and routine deliveries, including forceps/vacuum-assisted births
• Perform neonatal resuscitation and immediate newborn care in the delivery room when needed
• Administer medications and IV therapies including magnesium sulfate and insulin drips, and manage infusion pumps
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (IV team, RT, pharmacy, rapid response) to deliver safe, coordinated care
• Document accurately and efficiently in Epic to maintain continuity of care and clear communication
• Provide patient and family education, lactation support, and discharge teaching to empower new parents

Qualifications

• Active RN license (state-required) — ready to practice in Ohio
• Minimum 2 years of relevant nursing experience
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP and fetal monitoring
• Epic experience required — comfortable with electronic charting
• Proficient in dysrhythmia/telemetry interpretation and comfortable with 1:3 patient ratios
• Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only)
• Willingness to work nights, float within the OSU organization, and participate in weekend/holiday rotations

Knowledge & Skills

• Expertise in fetal monitoring (EFM) and recognition/treatment of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
• Telemetry interpretation and dysrhythmia recognition
• Strong neonatal resuscitation and newborn care skills
• IV therapy skills including central line/PICC maintenance and infusion pump management
• Experience assisting in C-sections and managing high-risk labor and delivery scenarios
• Comfort with postpartum care including hemorrhage management and magnesium sulfate therapy
• Familiarity with NST (Non-Stress Test) and antepartum monitoring procedures
• Effective communication and teamwork within multidisciplinary hospital settings
