Shift Type: Evening shifts — primarily 5x8 (5 shifts per week) 2:30 PM - 11:00 PM; alternate rotating schedule options include a mix of 2x8 and 2x12 evening/night shifts (examples listed include 10:30 PM and 2:30 PM start times). Includes in-house weekend rotation (aligned with staff rotation) and required call duties (weekday call begins at 7:00 PM; weekend call divided into 12-hour blocks).

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert perioperative nursing care in the CVOR for adult cardiac, vascular and transplant patients
• Assist and scrub for complex procedures including CABG, valve surgeries, TAVR and LVAD-related cases
• Ensure accurate EPIC charting for all perioperative documentation and handoffs
• Participate in call rotation and respond to weekday and weekend call assignments promptly (weekday call begins at 7:00 PM; weekend call in 12-hour blocks)
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes in a Level I Trauma and transplant setting
• Adhere to universal protocol, infection control and safe blood product administration practices
• Support emergency responses such as code response, malignant hyperthermia and intraoperative emergencies

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse license (state authorization to practice in Ohio required)
• Minimum 3 years overall OR experience with 2+ years dedicated to cardiac and vascular care (HARD STOP: 3 years total OR experience)
• At least 1 year CVOR-specific experience
• At least 1 year experience in a Level I Trauma facility
• EPIC charting experience (required)
• BLS and NIHSS certifications required (ACLS preferred)
• Comfortable with call duties and flexible scheduling

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong perioperative knowledge in cardiovascular, thoracic, vascular and transplant procedures
• Experience with intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP), femoral cannulation and VAD management
• Familiarity with advanced procedures such as TAVR, TEVAR, EVAR and endovascular interventions
• Robotic surgery exposure (Da Vinci systems) and hybrid OR experience a plus
• Proficient with electrosurgical units, fiber optic lighting and common CVOR instrumentation
• Skilled in administration of blood products, specimen handling, infection control and universal protocol time-outs
• Effective communication and teamwork in high-acuity, multidisciplinary settings
