Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert peri-procedural nursing care in diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization procedures
• Prepare and set up cath lab equipment and devices including fluoroscopy and Siemens systems
• Perform EKG lead placement, prep access sites, and provide accurate hemodynamic monitoring
• Act as scrub or room circulator, maintaining sterile field and ensuring procedural safety
• Assist with device insertions such as IABP, Impella, temporary pacemakers, VADs and support PCI/PTCA
• Document care accurately in EPIC and manage medications via Pyxis while communicating using SBAR
• Recognize and respond to life-threatening arrhythmias and engage Rapid Response/Code teams when needed
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (Respiratory, Radiology, Pharmacy, Social Services) to optimize patient outcomes

Qualifications

• Active RN license (out-of-state candidates: Swedish facilities honor active compact licenses)
• Minimum 2 years cardiac cath lab experience required; travel experience required — unit does not accept first-time travelers
• Current BLS required; ACLS and CCI RCIS preferred
• Proven experience in diagnostic and interventional cardiac cath lab procedures (PCI, PTCA, left/right heart cath)
• Comfortable with on-call expectations and able to respond within 30 minutes when called
• Experience with EPIC documentation and Pyxis medication systems preferred
• Familiarity with vascular closure systems and sterile scrub technique

Knowledge & Skills

• Fluoroscopy and Siemens imaging systems
• EPIC charting and Pyxis medication system
• Cardiac catheterization procedures including PCI, PTCA, left and right heart cath
• IABP placement/removal, Impella insertion, temporary pacemaker support, VAD insertion
• Rotablator atherectomy and catheter-based device assistance
• EKG lead placement and accurate hemodynamic monitoring
• Vascular closure systems (Perclose, StarClose) and sterile scrub/room circulation
• Isolation precautions, SBAR communication, and rapid response/code team participation
