Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide trauma-informed psychological assessments and evidence-based therapy to patients in a correctional setting
• Develop individualized treatment plans and document clinical progress with clarity and timeliness
• Collaborate with psychiatrists, social workers, custody staff, and other care team members to coordinate care
• Conduct crisis intervention and risk assessments, prioritizing safety and ethical practice
• Lead group therapy sessions and psychoeducational programming tailored to patient needs
• Participate fully in the 2-week training program and ongoing professional development

Qualifications

• Active and valid license as a Psychologist (PSYL) or as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
• Comfortable and professional working in a correctional facility environment (PBSP - Pelican Bay State Prison)
• Willingness to complete the required 2-week training (5/8s, Monday-Friday)
• Strong clinical documentation skills and ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams
• Professional demeanor, good boundaries, and commitment to ethical practice

Knowledge & Skills

• Competence in assessment, diagnosis, and individual and group therapy modalities
• Crisis management and suicide/risk assessment skills
• Knowledge of evidence-based interventions for serious mental illness and trauma
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for clinical documentation and team collaboration
• Cultural humility and ability to work with diverse populations
