Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform Compensation & Pension (C&P) exams and Separation Health Assessments with professionalism and compassion
• Conduct thorough clinical interviews to capture medical history and functional limitations
• Perform focused physical assessments including range-of-motion and muscle strength testing
• Document findings clearly and efficiently in required medical records and reports
• Complete one-time non-treatment exams (no prescribing or follow-up treatment)
• Submit timely reports, addendums, and any required administrative documentation
• Maintain credentialing and compliance with onboarding requirements to remain available for assignments

Qualifications

• Active, unrestricted Nurse Practitioner (NP) license in the state of practice
• Clinical background in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Orthopedics, or general medicine
• Experience with clinical interviewing, physical assessment, and medical documentation
• Comfort performing range-of-motion and muscle strength testing
• Reliable ability to work within a 50-mile radius of assigned locations or to see Veterans in your own office when required
• Willingness to complete required training and credentialing for VES assignments

Education

• Graduate-level Nurse Practitioner education (MSN or DNP) and NP certification appropriate to practice

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in clinical interviewing and eliciting relevant medical history
• Proficient in physical examination techniques, including ROM and muscle testing
• Strong medical documentation and reporting skills
• Familiarity with Compensation & Pension (C&P) exam processes and requirements
• Ability to conduct non-treatment, objective assessments and produce clear medical opinions
• Comfortable with occasional administrative follow-up (addendums, opinions, diagnostic review)
