Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, professional care to patients in a mental health setting
• Monitor and document patient behavior and clinical observations accurately and promptly
• Assist the clinical team with therapeutic activities and daily living support
• Participate in de-escalation and crisis interventions when needed to maintain a safe environment
• Follow facility policies and safety protocols specific to a correctional mental health setting
• Collaborate closely with nurses, clinicians, and custodial staff to coordinate care
• Support patient transport, intakes, releases and routine clinical procedures under supervision
• Contribute to a respectful, recovery-focused atmosphere that supports patient dignity

Qualifications

• Valid Licensed Psychiatric Technician (LPT) credential (California) required
• Willingness and ability to work the posted schedule: Tuesday–Saturday, 6:00 AM–2:30 PM
• Available for a 1-week orientation, Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:00 PM
• Comfortable working in a correctional facility environment (CCI - California Correctional Institution)
• Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of mental health care basics, patient observation and documentation
• Skill in de-escalation techniques and crisis management
• Ability to follow safety protocols and work within security-conscious settings
• Good interpersonal skills for working with patients and clinical staff
• Familiarity with therapeutic activity support and daily living assistance
