Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered labor and delivery care for low- and high-risk patients
• Attend and assist with deliveries, including high-risk births and cesarean sections, offering calm clinical leadership
• Circulate, scrub, and recover for OB-GYN surgeries using sterile technique to maintain OR safety
• Monitor and interpret fetal tracings and intervene promptly with clear, timely actions
• Manage epidurals, PCA, infusion therapies, and medication drips safely and confidently
• Administer blood and blood products and maintain central line care when needed
• Perform triage, sterile vaginal exams, and support couplet care and transition nursery needs
• Collaborate with OB, anesthesia, NICU and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate seamless patient care
• Document care accurately in Epic and contribute to unit quality and safety initiatives

Qualifications

• Active RN license ready to practice (compact accepted where applicable)
• ADN required; BSN preferred
• Minimum 2 years Labor & Delivery experience preferred; strong related experience considered
• Travel nursing experience required (this unit does not accept first-time travelers)
• Required/highly recommended certifications: BLS, NRP, AWHONN Intermediate
• Preferred certifications: ACLS and Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM)
• Competency with fetal monitoring (external and internal) and IUPC placement/calibration
• Experience charting in Epic strongly preferred, plus IV therapy and blood product administration experience
• Willingness and ability to work night shift and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams

Education

• ADN required
• BSN preferred
• Active RN license (compact accepted where applicable)

Knowledge & Skills

• Fetal monitoring and interpretation (external and internal), including IUPC placement and calibration
• Labor and delivery management with experience supporting high-risk deliveries
• Medication administration including drips, epidural and PCA management
• Safe blood and transfusion monitoring practices and central line care
• Use and troubleshooting of common L&D equipment such as epidural and syringe pumps
• Surgical assisting and sterile technique for C-sections
• Strong assessment, critical thinking, and interdisciplinary communication skills
• Proficiency charting in Epic and accurate, timely documentation
