Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate personal care and assistance with activities of daily living
• Assist residents with grooming, bathing, dressing, and mobility while preserving dignity
• Monitor resident condition and promptly report changes to nursing staff
• Document care accurately and keep resident records up to date
• Support safe transfers and fall-prevention strategies during daily routines
• Engage residents with friendly conversation and meaningful interaction to promote wellbeing
• Collaborate with the care team to ensure individualized, person-centered care plans are followed

Qualifications

• Valid GNA or state-equivalent nursing assistant certification (required)
• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Prior experience caring for older adults or in long-term care is a plus
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
• Ability to pass background checks and meet facility onboarding requirements
• Compassion, patience, and strong communication skills with residents and families

Education

• High school diploma or GED
• GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) certification or state-equivalent

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of basic geriatric care principles and resident dignity
• Skillful in assisting with ADLs and safe patient handling techniques
• Knowledge of infection prevention and basic hygiene practices
• Comfortable with observation and clear reporting of changes in resident status
• Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary care team
• Basic documentation skills; familiarity with electronic or paper charting
