Roles & Responsibilities
- Administer and monitor chemotherapy and continuous infusions safely and accurately
- Operate and troubleshoot CADD pumps and manage continuous infusion therapies
- Access, de-access, and manage PAS-ports and chest ports with precision
- Perform telephone triage and clinical assessment for post-op and oncology patients
- Provide patient and family education on chemo, BMT/CAR-T, surgical care, and symptom management
- Document thorough assessments and interventions using required charting systems
- Recognize and escalate oncologic emergencies (tumor lysis, anaphylaxis, extravasation, sepsis, spinal cord compression)
- Assist with in-office minor surgical procedures and post-op triage for hepatobiliary and surgical clinics
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure continuity of care across clinics
Qualifications
- Active CA RN license required (no pending licenses accepted)
- Minimum 2 years ambulatory oncology RN experience with solid chemotherapy knowledge
- BLS certification required at time of submission
- Chemo certification (ONS/ONCC) and OCN are strongly preferred
- Travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers are not accepted
- Flu vaccine required with no exemptions; COVID-19 vaccine not required per facility guideline
- Comfort with pediatric through geriatric patient populations and specialty clinics (Hematology/Oncology, BMT/CAR-T, Solid Tumors)
- Experience with charting systems and strong clinical judgment for triage and post-op calls
Knowledge & Skills
- Chemotherapy administration (IV, IM, SC, oral) and monitoring
- Continuous infusion management and CADD pump operation
- IV therapy, blood & blood product administration, and central line/port care
- Recognition and management of oncologic emergencies and acute complications
- Telephone triage and effective patient/family education
- Post-op assessment for hepatobiliary and surgical patients
- Proficient charting and documentation in electronic systems
- Ability to work across adolescent, adult, pediatric, and geriatric patient groups
