Roles & Responsibilities
- Manage ventilated neonatal and pediatric patients with confidence, including invasive and non-invasive ventilation
- Independently admit and manage vented patients in the pediatric ICU using Servo-U ventilators
- Set up and manage heliox therapy and other advanced respiratory treatments
- Perform and manage high frequency ventilation modalities such as HFOV and HFJV when indicated
- Provide non-invasive support including bubble CPAP, BiPAP and CPAP and monitor patient response
- Administer and manage nitric oxide therapy and Vaportherm support as ordered
- Accurately document all assessments, interventions and ventilator settings in Epic
- Collaborate with NICU/PICU multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes and family communication
Qualifications
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required
- Active state Respiratory Therapist license or ability to obtain licensure in Georgia
- PALS certification required
- Minimum 1 year Neonatal ICU or PICU Critical Care experience (explicit requirement)
- Proven experience managing invasive and non-invasive ventilation in pediatric or neonatal patients
- Familiarity with Servo-U ventilators and Drager VN500 preferred
- Comfortable working 12-hour night shifts and adapting to travel assignment schedules
Knowledge & Skills
- Advanced ventilator management for neonatal and pediatric patients
- Invasive and non-invasive ventilation strategies including CPAP and BiPAP
- Experience with Bubble CPAP, HFOV, HFJV and heliox therapy
- Use and troubleshooting of Servo-U and Drager VN500 ventilators
- Familiarity with Vaportherm and nitric oxide therapy
- Strong Epic documentation skills
- Ability to triage, prioritize and communicate clearly with multidisciplinary teams
