Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, patient-centered occupational therapy interventions under the direction of the supervising therapist
- Assist in implementing individualized treatment plans to improve patients' independence with activities of daily living
- Document patient progress, responses to treatment, and discharge planning clearly and timely in the record
- Educate and train patients and families on adaptive techniques, energy conservation, and home safety
- Collaborate with nursing, therapy, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate high-quality care
- Support restorative programs and assist with adaptive equipment recommendations and setup
- Maintain treatment areas, therapy equipment, and follow infection control and safety protocols
Qualifications
- Current COTA credential (Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant) required
- State licensure or eligibility to practice as a COTA in Wisconsin
- Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification as required by facility policy
- Comfort working in a rehabilitation/skilled nursing setting with adults and older adults
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with an interdisciplinary team
- Available for the assignment period: 2026-02-16 through 2026-05-18
Education
- Associate degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program or equivalent
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in activity analysis and adaptive techniques for ADLs
- Knowledge of therapeutic modalities, splinting basics, and mobility aids
- Proficient documentation skills and familiarity with electronic health records
- Ability to assess functional status and contribute to measurable goals
- Strong patient education, time management, and teamwork abilities
