Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare operating rooms and instrument trays to ensure each procedure starts on time
• Maintain a sterile field and follow strict aseptic technique to protect patients
• Pass instruments and supplies efficiently to support the surgical team
• Operate, clean, and troubleshoot surgical equipment and instrumentation
• Anticipate the needs of surgeons and nurses, working independently with minimal direction
• Document procedures and communicate status clearly with perioperative staff
• Adhere to safety protocols and infection control policies to promote excellent outcomes
• Support turnover between cases to maximize OR productivity and patient flow

Qualifications

• Certification as a Surgical Technologist (required)
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (required)
• Three or more years of Operating Room Technician / OR Tech experience
• Comfortable working independently and with minimal supervision
• Strong communication skills and commitment to patient safety
• Ability to travel to and work on a contract assignment in Hermiston, OR

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Certification as a Surgical Technologist (required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Thorough knowledge of sterile technique and OR infection control
• Familiarity with surgical instruments, trays, and passing techniques
• Experience with operating room setup, turnover, and equipment sterilization
• Good situational awareness and ability to anticipate team needs
• Strong time management and reliability in a fast-paced environment
• Teamwork mindset and clear, professional communication skills
