Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, patient-centered nursing care on a medical-surgical telemetry unit
• Continuously monitor telemetry and respond promptly to rhythm changes and alarms
• Administer medications and treatments accurately and according to protocols
• Document thoroughly and efficiently in Epic to ensure continuity of care
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient discharge and care plans
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, medications, and follow-up care
• Assist in emergency response and escalation when patients deteriorate
• Float within scope to support like units as needed to meet facility staffing demands

Qualifications

• Current, active RN license (State of North Carolina or eligible for licensure) — pending licenses are not accepted
• Minimum 2 years of experience in Medical-Surgical/Telemetry nursing
• Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIH Stroke Scale
• Comfortable working with typical unit patient ratios (~1:5-6)
• Weekend availability (every other weekend) and willingness to float between like units
• First-time travel nurses welcome

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN); BSN preferred when available

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient in telemetry monitoring and interpreting cardiac rhythms
• Strong medical-surgical nursing skills and safe medication administration
• Experience charting in Epic (electronic health record required)
• Excellent assessment, critical thinking, and clinical prioritization
• Clear communication skills for collaborating with the care team and educating patients
• Ability to adapt to changing unit needs and float between similar units
