Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living — bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting with dignity and respect
- Support safe mobility and transfers, helping residents stay as independent as possible
- Monitor and record vital signs and report changes in condition to the nursing team
- Provide compassionate companionship and engage residents in social and therapeutic activities
- Document care activities accurately and timely in resident records
- Follow infection control and safety procedures to maintain a healthy environment
- Collaborate with nurses and interdisciplinary team members to support individualized care plans
Qualifications
- Current GNA certification or state equivalency (required)
- CPR/BLS certification preferred or ability to obtain upon hire
- Previous experience in long-term care or working with older adults is a plus
- Current immunizations and ability to clear background/health screenings
- Reliable, compassionate, and patient-centered approach to care
Education
- High school diploma or GED required; completion of an accredited GNA training program
Knowledge & Skills
- Basic knowledge of geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
- Ability to take and record vital signs accurately
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with residents and families
- Good documentation and time-management skills
- Familiarity with safety protocols, infection control, and safe resident handling
