Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality postoperative orthopedic nursing care to adult patients
• Manage a patient assignment independently (typically up to 5 patients) while maintaining excellent safety and clinical outcomes
• Perform unit-specific procedures such as dressing changes and aspirations with clinical accuracy
• Implement and monitor pain management plans in collaboration with providers to optimize patient comfort
• Document care, assessments and interventions accurately in the Meditech EMR
• Communicate effectively with surgeons, therapists and the interdisciplinary team to support coordinated care
• Support unit quality initiatives and contribute to a positive patient experience

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice (or compact RN eligibility)
• Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience (surgical/orthopedic experience required/preferred)
• Demonstrated ability to independently manage an assignment of up to 5 patients
• Experience working on a surgical or orthopedic unit and familiarity with postoperative care
• Competence with Meditech EMR or similar electronic charting systems
• Positive attitude, strong teamwork skills, and reliable communication
• Willingness to work night shift schedule for the duration of the 13-week assignment

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) — BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Orthopedic postoperative care and mobility protocols
• Pain management strategies and medication administration
• Wound care and dressing change techniques
• Meditech EMR documentation and electronic charting best practices
• Time management and prioritization in a 1:5 nursing ratio
• Strong assessment skills and clinical judgment in a surgical setting
• Collaborative communication with multidisciplinary teams and patients' families
