Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide attentive, compassionate post-op Med/Surg nursing care to adult patients
• Perform reliable IV starts and manage IV therapy safely and efficiently
• Assess, cleanse and dress wounds; manage surgical drains with confidence
• Care for nasogastric and chest tubes, monitoring for complications
• Continuously monitor telemetry and respond promptly to cardiac changes
• Document patient care accurately and thoroughly in Meditech
• Deliver bedside shift report and include patients and families in the plan of care
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to optimize patient outcomes
• Prioritize and multitask effectively in a fast-paced unit with a 6:1 ratio
• Float per unit policy when needed and support unit staffing needs

Qualifications

• Active RN license (required)
• BLS certification (required)
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg nursing experience (explicit requirement)
• Demonstrated skill with IV starts, wound care, and surgical drain management
• Experience with nasogastric and chest tube care
• Comfortable with telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm recognition
• Proficient with Meditech documentation system
• Able to work night shifts and a 3x12-hour schedule with rotating weekends

Knowledge & Skills

• Med/Surg nursing best practices and post-op care
• IV pumps, feeding pumps, PCA management
• Continuous pulse oximetry and telemetry monitoring
• Use of EKG machines and bladder scanner
• Basic wound care techniques and drain/tube management
• Effective prioritization, multitasking and time management
• Clear communication using iMobile or similar clinical communication tools
• Accurate electronic charting in Meditech
