Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based labor and delivery care for mothers and newborns
• Monitor maternal and fetal status, interpret findings, and escalate concerns promptly
• Circulate and scrub for cesarean sections and support perioperative team as needed
• Administer and manage IV medications safely (including magnesium drips) and document care
• Perform and assist with epidurals, spinals, cerclage and external cephalic version when indicated
• Deliver high-acuity maternal/newborn care and coordinate with Level III NICU teams
• Document patient care accurately using Meditech and unit-specific documentation systems
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to create smooth, patient-centered birth experiences
• Float within the women’s and children’s service line as unit needs require

Qualifications

• Current RN license (state licensure as required for assignment)
• Minimum 2 years clinical experience (preferably in Labor & Delivery or related maternal/newborn care)
• Current BLS, ACLS and NRP certifications
• AWOHHN Fetal Heart Rate Intermediate certification (required)
• Experience with Meditech (documentation) and CPN systems
• Perioperative scrub/ circulating experience and comfort assisting in OR (preferred)
• Ability to manage high-acuity maternal and newborn scenarios with calm and competence
• Willingness to work rotating 12-hour shifts and float within the women’s & children’s service line

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in maternal and fetal monitoring and interpretation
• Experience administering and titrating IV drips such as magnesium
• Familiarity with cesarean section workflow, epidurals, spinals, cerclage and versions
• Strong perioperative (scrub/circulating) skills helpful for OR support
• Proficient documentation in Meditech and clinical point-of-care systems (CPN)
• Ability to prioritize in a fast-paced L&D unit and respond to emergencies
• Excellent communication and patient education skills for families during labor and delivery
