Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor transplant and stepdown patients, providing safe, expert nursing care during the night shift
• Administer medications and manage heparin drips and PCA pumps accurately and confidently
• Perform wound and drain care (wound vac, chest tubes, JP drains) and document care thoroughly
• Monitor cardiac rhythms and EKGs, responding promptly to changes in patient status
• Collaborate with physicians, transplant teams, and interdisciplinary staff to support complex care plans
• Use Meditech to maintain clear, timely charting and communicate care handoffs effectively
• Operate patient mobility equipment (Hoyer lift, Sara Stedy, sit-to-stand) and ensure safe patient handling
• Support patient safety and comfort using technology such as AccuVein and virtual sitter systems

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Colorado (or compact RN) — required
• Minimum 2 years clinical experience in Med/Surg and/or Telemetry — required
• Hands-on experience caring for patients on heparin drips and PCA therapy — required
• Experience in Stepdown/PCU or solid organ transplant care (kidney, liver, pancreas) — preferred
• Proficiency with Meditech or similar EMR systems — preferred
• BLS required; ACLS recommended/preferred
• Ability to work independently on night shift, reliable, adaptable, and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN)

Knowledge & Skills

• Med/Surg and Telemetry nursing expertise
• Monitoring and titration of heparin drips and management of PCA devices
• Wound, drain, and chest tube care
• EKG rhythm recognition and telemetry monitoring
• Safe patient handling with Hoyer/Sara Stedy and sit-to-stand lifts
• Familiarity with AccuVein and virtual sitter camera workflows
• Clear clinical documentation in Meditech and effective interdisciplinary communication
