Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess patients quickly and accurately in the Emergency Department using evidence-based triage and assessment techniques
• Implement care plans from admission through discharge, coordinating with the interdisciplinary team to achieve optimal outcomes
• Provide trauma care and stabilization consistent with Trauma Level IV protocols
• Utilize advanced life support protocols (ACLS, PALS) and trauma nursing practices (TNCC, ATLS) during emergencies
• Document care thoroughly and follow clinical pathways to support quality and continuity of care
• Participate in on-call and holiday coverage, stepping up when the community needs emergency services most
• Coordinate patient transfers and care transitions when higher levels of care are required

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the practicing state (or compact/multi-state where applicable)
• Current ACLS and PALS certifications (or equivalent) required
• TNCC, ATLS and/or CEN certification strongly preferred or required as noted
• Experience in Emergency Department nursing; Critical Access Hospital (CAH) experience preferred
• Familiarity with Trauma Level IV operations preferred
• Comfort with night shifts, holiday coverage and on-call responsibilities
• Ability to work in shared housing when provided and comply with housing policies

• Advanced cardiac and pediatric life support (ACLS, PALS)
• Trauma assessment and stabilization practices (TNCC, ATLS, Trauma Nursing)
• Strong patient assessment, critical thinking and care coordination skills
• Effective documentation and use of clinical pathways
• Teamwork and clear communication in high-pressure situations
• Adaptability to rural/critical-access hospital workflows and resource-limited environments
