Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care to oncology, hematology, and sickle cell patients in the Immediate Care Center
• Assess patients quickly and accurately, including obtaining and interpreting 12-lead EKGs
• Administer IV therapy, blood products, and manage central lines with attention to safety
• Recognize and manage dysrhythmias and other emergency cardiac events using cardiac monitoring
• Triaging patients and coordinating care with APPs, ED physicians, and the multidisciplinary team
• Document thoroughly and efficiently in EPIC to ensure continuity of care
• Support discharge planning and patient education so patients leave safely and informed
• Float to the Emergency Department when needed and apply ER skills in a fast-paced environment

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of ER experience, with required experience met within the most recent 3 years
• At least 1 year of travel nursing experience is a hard requirement
• EPIC charting experience required
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification
• Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
• NIHSS certification (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) required
• Comfort with 1:3-4 patient ratios and working nights
• Ability and willingness to float between ICC and ED as needed

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong patient assessment and triage skills
• IV therapy, phlebotomy, and blood product administration
• Central line care and maintenance
• Cardiac monitoring and interpretation/management of dysrhythmias
• Proficiency with EPIC charting and clinical documentation
• Familiarity with emergency medications and isolation precautions/PPE
• Experience caring for oncology, hematology, and sickle cell patients
• Team collaboration with APPs, physicians, and interdisciplinary support services
