Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor behavioral health patients, using clinical judgment to guide timely interventions
• Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation with compassion and safety-first techniques
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately, adhering to facility protocols
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans
• Document patient status, interventions, and outcomes thoroughly in the electronic health record
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatment plans, and community resources
• Advocate for patient needs and contribute to a healing, respectful environment

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing; compact licensure accepted where applicable
• Experience in behavioral health or psychiatric nursing preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; advanced certifications such as ACLS or psychiatric-mental health credentials are a plus
• Comfort working rotating shifts including nights and ability to adapt to changing clinical demands
• Strong clinical assessment, communication, and documentation skills
• Ability to meet client credentialing requirements and pass background checks

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Mental health assessment and crisis management
• De-escalation techniques and trauma-informed care
• Medication administration and safety in behavioral health settings
• Collaborative care planning and teamwork with psychiatry, social work, and therapy staff
• Proficient documentation in electronic health record systems
• Time management and prioritization in a fast-paced environment
