Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts (primarily day): Three 12-hour day shifts per week, 6:45 AM - 7:15 PM; one night of call per week 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM; one weekend of call per month (Friday, Saturday, Sunday nights 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM); rotating holidays. (Day/Night rotating schedule)

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality perioperative nursing care across general, orthopedic, endo-vascular, urgent, and OB cases
• Assist surgeons as a Surgical First Assist (RNFA or CSTFA) when needed to improve patient outcomes
• Maintain sterile technique and safe operating room practices to protect patients and staff
• Prepare the OR, instruments, and equipment for a broad range of procedures and ensure accurate counts
• Communicate clearly with surgeons, anesthesia, and perioperative team members to coordinate efficient care
• Document patient care, procedural details, and perioperative assessments accurately
• Adhere to McLaren’s attendance and professional standards to support reliable patient coverage

Qualifications

• Active RN with Michigan nursing license (LARA & Nursys verification required)
• Minimum 2 years of perioperative/operating room nursing experience
• BLS (AHA) certification required
• NBSTSA or NCCT (interchangeable) required
• Surgical First Assist credential: RNFA or CSTFA accepted
• Experience in orthopedics, general surgery, endo-vascular, urgent care, or OB is preferred
• Skills checklist completed within one year of application for RN specialties; physical copies of listed certifications in profile as requested

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong perioperative and operating room knowledge, including sterile technique and instrumentation
• Surgical assisting skills and familiarity with common orthopedic and vascular procedures
• Ability to anticipate surgeon needs and manage intraoperative workflow
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and critical thinking under pressure
• Proficiency with perioperative documentation and adherence to hospital policies
• Dependable time management and punctuality in line with a strict attendance policy
