Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess patients promptly and accurately, and create meaningful care plans
- Administer medications and treatments safely and according to policy
- Monitor patient condition and respond to changes with clinical judgment
- Document patient care thoroughly and communicate clearly in the chart
- Coordinate with interdisciplinary team members to deliver seamless care
- Provide patient and family education with compassion and clarity
- Support unit operations during shift change and patient transitions
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in the state of Maine
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (or obtain upon hire)
- Clinical experience in nursing (facility welcomes local RNs; specific years not required in posting)
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team
- Ability to manage time during a longer day shift and prioritize patient needs
Education
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN)
- BSN preferred where available
Knowledge & Skills
- Solid patient assessment and clinical decision-making skills
- Medication administration and IV therapy competence
- Accurate and timely electronic medical record documentation
- Comfortable with care planning, discharge coordination, and handoffs
- Adaptability in a fast-paced clinical environment and strong interpersonal skills
