Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate hands-on care to residents, assisting with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting)
• Monitor residents' condition and report changes promptly to nursing staff
• Assist with safe transfers and mobility, using appropriate body mechanics and equipment
• Document care accurately and timely to ensure continuity and quality
• Support a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents
• Collaborate with the care team to promote dignity, independence, and person-centered care
• Engage residents with friendly conversation and meaningful interaction to boost morale

Qualifications

• Valid Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification — New York state preferred
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification or willingness to obtain
• Ability to pass required health screenings and background checks
• Comfortable with resident lifting/transfers and basic patient care tasks
• Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
• Prior long-term care or skilled nursing experience is a plus

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Completion of an accredited CNA training program and state certification

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of infection control and standard precautions
• Ability to take and record basic vital signs accurately
• Skilled at personal care tasks and mobility assistance
• Effective verbal and written communication for charting and handoffs
• Reliable time management and the ability to prioritize resident needs
• Empathy, patience, and the ability to build rapport quickly
