Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide skilled orthopedic and neuroscience nursing care for assigned patients, ensuring safety and best outcomes
• Perform focused neurological assessments and document NIHSS scores as required
• Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments accurately and on time
• Collaborate with surgeons, physicians, therapists, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient-centered care
• Complete Trinity specialty competency testing and skills checklists to maintain clinical excellence
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the electronic health record and support smooth handoffs
• Participate in infection control measures and follow required health screenings and immunization protocols
• Support patient and family education, discharge planning, and post-operative care instructions

Qualifications

• Active RN license with ability to complete license/certificate verification
• BLS certification required
• NIHSS certification required or demonstrated competency
• Clinical experience or comfort working in orthopedics and neuroscience patient populations
• Successful completion of Trinity Specialty Specific Competency Testing and Skills Checklist
• Current required health clearances: fit test, 10-panel drug screen, MMR, Hep B, TB screening (2-step PPD or IGRA), Varicella, Tdap, COVID-19 and Influenza vaccines as listed
• Ability to work rotating night schedule and holiday rotations

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of orthopedic and neuro post-operative care and common complications
• Proficiency in neurological assessments and NIHSS scoring
• Competency with basic life support (BLS) and emergency response
• Experience with electronic medical records and accurate clinical documentation
• Skilled in medication administration, IV therapy, and wound management
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and patient education skills
• Comfort completing specialty competencies and adapting to facility-specific protocols
